We aim to provide hope and inspiration by taking the Hope of Christ to Every Student. We want to provide teens a place to belong, opportunities to make a positive difference, and bring life-changing transformation to their life and those around them. Our core focus is to help 300,000 students in 4,650 different schools experience the hope of Christ by December 31, 2023. This podcast is part of our strategy to get the word out to the believers of Jesus in the United States to help encourage, equip, and empower Christian students to share their hope in Christ with their peers. In this week’s podcast, hear from Tampa Bay’s president, Amber Johansen. Amber is passionate and driven for the ministry of First Priority, and we get the opportunity to hear some incredible stories and encouragement from her.
Amber was born and raised in Tampa. After graduating from Leto High School, she attended Florida State University for an undergraduate degree and then the University of South Florida for a graduate degree in Government and International Studies. Her background includes working with at-risk teens and families, non-profit work, and program development.
She has been involved with First Priority of Tampa Bay since 2009, when she began serving as a Parent Partner in her son’s First Priority group. In 2013, she was appointed Executive Director and then President in 2023.

On this week’s podcast, Shane and Natalie Kenney share their heart with First Priority and how God is moving in west Texas. Shane and Natalie talked about how they started in Texas and the ways that God has answered prayers and worked in First Priority Permian Basin during their 10 years there. Tune in to hear some amazing stories!
Shane Kenney has been working with students since 1998. He has served as a youth pastor in Florida for many years, as well as coaching at the local school. It was during that time that he got a burden for campus ministry. In February of 2011 he joined First Priority in West Florida. In July of 2013, he moved his family to West Texas to become the Executive Director in the Permian Basin. Natalie has served alongside her husband Shane in youth ministry for the past 20+ years. She has a burden to reach lost people with the Gospel and uses that passion to train students to be missionaries on their campus. Shane and Natalie live in Odessa, TX with their oldest daughter Tori. Their youngest daughter Tristan, currently lives in Anchorage, AK.

Tim Bargo is in his 15th year as executive director for First Priority Tri-County, KY. He spends most of his day working with schools, churches, finding priority partners, and promoting First Priority locally. He has been in youth ministry for 25 years and as a youth pastor/campus coach for 11 years. He also served 1 year as club director for FP Tri-States. Tim resides in Corbin Kentucky with his wife Tammy. They have three adult children Brittany, Justin, and Dylan. Tim and Tammy are actively involved at Immanuel Church in Corbin.

Chuck White is the Director of Lake Cumberland. Chuck is a deacon and active member at Pleasant View Baptist church in Somerset, KY. Chuck has been involved with First Priority since we began in the Lake Cumberland area.

This week's episode features Al Miller and Theresa Cox from Decatur Alabama. Brad talks with Al and Theresa about their journey with First Priority and the way that the Lord is using them to further His kingdom.
Al Miller and Theresa Cox are both a part of First Priority in Alabama. They started serving on staff during this past school year but have been a part of First Priority Decatur for several years. Theresa, the Area Director for Cullman Alabama, has previously volunteered for First Priority for almost 10 years before she came on staff. Al, the Area Director for elementary schools in Decatur Alabama, has been a donor for First Priority since the early 2000’s.

Brad and Steve talk with Ben Trueblood about reaching those who are unseen. Ben Trueblood who has worked for Lifeway the last 12 years, shares his heart with Brad and Steve about what God is doing, and will do in the lives of the younger generation.
Ben serves as the Director of Student Ministry for Lifeway Christian Resources and has served the local church as a student pastor for fourteen years. In addition to his role at Lifeway, Ben is involved in training, consulting, and speaking to student ministries throughout the U.S. He is driven by a desire for student ministries to expand God’s Kingdom, to see the lives of students transformed by the gospel, and to produce students who shape the culture in which they live.

Since 2022, First Priority has offered a scholarship opportunity for seniors involved in a First Priority club. This year, First Priority was given the chance to award two scholarship winners! Also, be sure to check it out to hear Brad announce a special surprise!
Karlee Johnson, one of the First Priority scholarship recipients, is from Kentucky where she has been a leader in her local First Priority club since the 6th grade. Karlee will be attending a Christian university in the fall and is looking forward to using her God-given talents as she pursues a college Education.
Preston Styons is the 2nd First Priority scholarship recipient and is from North Carolina. Preston has served in leadership roles with his local First Priority club since the 6th grade and will be continuing his education at a Christian university and hopes to continue to lead for the Lord.

Jeremy is a board member of First Priority Greater Nashville and has worked in the Christian film industry fro the last 11 years, and has worked on around 35 different films during this time. Some of these films include I Can Only Imagine, War Room, and the recent release The Jesus Revolution. Jeremy is also a host on his own podcast called "The Everyday Dad".

This week, the TN1 Metro Nashville Coordinator Joey Maldonado, brings his background of church planting and youth ministry to talk about how to stay relationship-minded and serve the schools as First Priority.
Joey Maldonado is the TN1 Metro Nashville Coordinator and has served in youth ministry with his wife for 18 years. Joey moved to Nashville from The Bronx, New York 7 years ago and has also spent a few years in Latin America doing youth ministry as well. Joey has focused on using performing arts as a main tool in his youth ministry to connect to young adults and build relationships. His current position with First Priority as Metro Nashville Coordinator allows him to assist the coaches and schools by nurturing relationships and strengthening existing clubs.
